LG InstaView Side-by-Side Fridge Drip Tray

LG InstaView Side-by-Side Fridge Drip Tray

This post covers a custom 3D-printed LG InstaView drip tray designed to solve an overlooked problem: the shallow drip plate under your fridge’s water and ice dispenser is prone to overflowing.

This 3D-printed project solves that problem. The custom drip tray uses magnets to attach securely to your fridge and features a removable top grate cover. It’s easy to install and remove for cleaning.

The tray design was refined through trial and error to achieve a near-perfect fit. I recommend printing with Bambu Lab PLA for durability.

The grate cover snaps out for easy cleaning — just rinse it and snap it back in. Installation took about 30 seconds: position the tray, let the magnets hold it in place, and you're done.

When printing, use PLA filament at 200°C nozzle temperature for optimal adhesion between the print and magnets. If you notice the tray loosening after a few weeks, swap to nylon or PETG for long-term durability — though these materials require higher extruder temperatures and slower print speeds.

The drip tray was designed specifically for LG InstaView side-by-side models including the GS-V600MBLC and LRSDS2706D. If you have a different LG fridge model, measure your existing drip plate dimensions before printing to ensure a snug fit. You can share your measurements in the comments and I'll see if I can adapt the design.

The 3D STL file for download is available on the product page linked below. It includes two versions: one standard version with the grate cover and a simplified version without the grate for easier printing. Both print in roughly the same time, though the no-grate version saves about 45 minutes.

The download includes an STL file ready for slicing in any 3D printer software. No special slicer settings required — just load it into your preferred slicer and print.

Download the STL file and give your fridge the drip tray it deserves.
