iMac 2013 Headset Mount

iMac 2013 Headset Mount

When working from home, it’s often time to organise and cleanup your desk. To start, I designed this headset mount / hook that attaches to your iMac’s left hand side of the screen. It attaches with some double sided tape and is not obtrusive — just peel, stick, and hang.

Working from home has become the new normal for a lot of us, and one thing I’ve noticed is that desk clutter builds up fast. Headsets, cables, chargers — everything ends up in a pile on the bench. This headset mount was designed specifically to keep my headphones organized and off the desk surface, so I can grab them quickly when a call comes in without digging through a cable tangle.

The design mounts to the left side of an iMac display, using the flat bezel as a mounting surface. It’s positioned so that you can hang your over-ear headphones on the hook without them swinging onto your keyboard or cable mess below. No drilling into the screen required — just peel and stick with strong double-sided tape.

Ideally suited for:

  • iMac 2013 and later models (including the iMac Pro, 27″ Retina, and all Intel-based iMacs)
  • Over-ear headphones up to approximately 300g in weight (standard consumer headsets like AirPods Max, Sony WH-1000XM5, Bose QC45, etc.)
  • Sitting on a desk within arm’s reach of your iMac

Built with the following print specs: Printed on my Prusa i3 MK3 printer using 3D Fillies PLA+ Silver filament (the silver gives it a sleek, metallic look that matches the iMac perfectly). Set to Build plate supports only at 0.2mm quality with 20% infill for strength. Total print time is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes per unit.

Installation steps:

  1. Clean the iMac bezel with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely
  2. Apply the included double-sided tape to the flat back surface of the mount
  3. Press firmly against the left side bezel and hold for 30 seconds
  4. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 1 hour before hanging any weight on it

Design notes:

  • The hook curve is designed to match the shape of standard headphone headbands, so your headphones sit snugly and won’t slip off easily even when bumped.
  • The mount extends only about 40mm from the bezel face, keeping it out of the way when not in use — no more knocking it with your arm while typing.
  • Print with supports removed carefully — the hook area has internal support structures that need a bit of cleaning up for the best finish.

This mount is perfect if you:

  • Wear over-ear headphones during work calls or music listening sessions and want them off the desk surface
  • Tired of finding your headphones face-down on the desk or tucked between keyboard and monitor
  • Want a clean, minimal solution that doesn’t require drilling or permanent modifications to your iMac
  • Prefer a stylish accessory that complements the iMac’s aluminium aesthetic

Compatible with:

  • iMac (21.5-inch, Early 2013 and later)
  • iMac Pro (all models)
  • iMac (27-inch, Early 2013 and later)

Not compatible with: iMac with a thin bezel (like the latest M-series models) — the bezel is too narrow for this mount to attach securely without overhang.

Built by the Candco team — designed, printed, and tested on a real iMac desk setup for everyday use. The silver filament choice was intentional to match the aluminium iMac frame perfectly and look like it was meant to be there.
